Learn More

Overview

With a unified product and single database, data is available for review the minute that processing has been completed.

Details and Benefits

The moment processing is completed; users can begin using powerful search and analysis tools to quickly locate key documents and create an understanding of the case. The advanced TAR (Technology Assisted Review) tools are fully integrated and available throughout all phases of the review to improve review speed and enable sharp focus on critical results.

Email Threading

Email Threading can Reduce the Volume of Documents Requiring Review

Learn More

Overview

Integrating email threading into an eDiscovery platform allows users to reduce the number of emails which must be viewed by reviewers by revealing only the “Inclusive” or unique emails.

Details and Benefits

During Processing, Cavo eD captures and displays email conversations so that the original thread context can be viewed. By identifying the unique emails in a threaded collection, users can drastically reduce the volume of email that must be directly reviewed. Focusing on the “Inclusive” email (the last email in a thread) and any other inclusive or unique email in the thread assures the reviewer that they have seen all the content without having to read each and every email separately. Tagging of email threads reduces the amount of time it takes to review an email population without any loss of accuracy or integrity.

Ingesting Synthetic Documents

Ingesting Synthetic Documents can Find Key Documents Immediately

Learn More

Overview

Using a synthetic document crafted by counsel can act as a magnet, to immediately identify documents that have a very similar thematic content.

Details and Benefits

Cavo eD allows its users to create and then ingest a “synthetic” document during Processing. Cavo eD will keep track of this document, giving it a special color when it appears in the grid and embedded business rules that prevent synthetic documents from ever being produced. Cavo eD uses the same proprietary algorithm to capture the most dominant document themes in the synthetic document. Counsel can then easily search for all documents in the corpus with themes similar to an ideal “synthetic” document constructed by counsel.

Intelligent Search Technology

Gain Insights into the Corpus of “Disorganized Information” Quickly with Cavo eD’s Intelligent Search Technology

Learn More

Overview

intelligent search is at the heart of the Cavo eD platform, and our proprietary thematic search is more accurate than keyword search, yet just as easy to use.

Details and Benefits

Cavo eD offers multiple search capabilities to match the needs of every eDiscovery project. These include:

  • Similarity Search – finds documents with themes similar to an open document with a single click.
  • Basic Theme Search – reveals a document’s thematic profile, which includes the document’s most dominant words and phrases with a measurement of their dominance.
  • Advanced Theme Search – enlarges the scope of the customizations possible with Basic Theme Search, changing the logic of how the Boolean query searches for the words and phrases in an open document.
  • Themes – a grid feature that allows users to see each document’s most dominant themes along with other metadata in the grid.
  • Summary – A grid feature that allows users to see the sentences that best summarize the gist of a document along with other document metadata.
  • Theme Clusters – takes the automatic grouping of documents a step further than simply clustering keywords. This Cavo eD feature leverages the themes in documents by grouping them. As a result, the names of the Theme Clusters can have more meaning than results from clustering individual keywords.
  • Theme Count – aggregates all the documents in a corpus by their shared themes. Theme Count is another way that Cavo eD does away with the challenges of the corpus being “disorganized information” after Processing.

Visually Map Documents over Time in Multiple Ways

Sometimes a picture is worth more than a 1000 words. And so it often is with visualizing a collection of documents plotted over time for eDiscovery purposes.

Details and Benefits

Cavo eD combines several of its features and technologies to produce three different methods of mapping documents over time. These Maps can be enormously useful immediately after Processing, or later in the Review workflow to gain new perspectives into a collection of tagged documents.

Document Map takes advantage of Cavo eD’s automated method for finding thematically similar documents. Engineers at Cavo eD have developed a default method for using a document’s most dominant words and phrases to automatically construct a complex Boolean query to find documents with similar content. So when a Cavo eD user wishes to map all the documents with themes similar to an open document, they simply click on the Document Map button, and Cavo eD does the rest. The result is an X-Y axis plot of the results of the search. Time runs along the X-axis. The relevancy to the reference document is measured along the Y-axis. Now users can visualize when documents appeared in the corpus that are similar to the reference document, creating a useful timeline of major events.

Search Map visualizes the results of a search. It does not matter to Cavo eD what kind of search. The Search Map takes the results from the grid, and plots them by time period along the X-axis, and relevancy against the search criteria on the Y-axis.

Grid Map plots the documents in a grid by time period and quantity per time period. This Grid Map is especially useful to understand how documents are dispersed at different times that are central to the issues and facts of the case. The Grid Map also may reveal when documents are missing that should have been received from the other side.

Metadata Filtering and Theme Mapping are available with all three map options. Cavo eD users can use a dropdown list to select one or more of the “Themes” contained in the documents in the map. Once selected, Cavo eD maps the documents that share these specific words and phrases. Then users can filter the map by the documents’ metadata.

What is a practical application of these tools? Assume you want to see what themes are shared by documents tagged Hot that belong to two custodians of interest. All the tools to visually show the mapping of these documents, who initiated the discussion and who first introduced certain words are right at the user’s fingertips.

Analyze and Visualize Communication

Analyze and Visualize Who was Communicating with Whom

Learn More

Overview

Visual Social Network and Social Graph are Cavo eD’s advanced methods for visualizing how various persons of interest communicate via email.

Details and Benefits

Cavo eD users begin using Visual Social Network by loading the documents they wish to socially visualize in the grid. Then, when the Visual Social Network is selected, users will see all the email sender and receiver names and their addresses contained in the grid. Users can select the primary person of interest as the “hub” of a social network, in addition to other persons of interest. Cavo eD will then visually display all the email connections between the “hub” person of interest and the other persons of interest. All the communication pairs between parties can be instantly accessed via clicking on the connected line in the graph, allowing the user to quickly focus on important relationships.

Social Graph offers different but complementary insights into a corpus. It is one thing to focus the visualization of a social network among the custodians in a case. But what if you want to know who someone is emailing about a topic, even if the person is not currently a custodian? Social graph will visualize everyone a person of interest is communicating with via email in the corpus. Among other things, Social Graph enables Cavo eD users to check whether all the individuals key to a case are under review.

Advanced Filtering

Cavo eD’s Filter Palette with Pivot Table is Filtering on Steroids

Learn More

Overview

Filtering has been a staple of eDiscovery work from the dawn of the profession. Today, Cavo eD has developed an advanced filtering technique consisting of a Filter Palette with Pivot Table.

Details and Benefits

Filter Palette makes it easy to layer filter on top of filter, so complex filter schemes are fast and intuitive to execute. Metadata, dates, tags, and document size can be combined in multiple ways and multiple times to filter through to exactly locate the group of documents that satisfies a user’s inquiry. Then with just a few clicks, the Cavo eD user can see the information in a Pivot Table with multiple group choices for the X-axis and Y-axis and multiple graph choices.
