Technology has given us the ability to remove much of the noise in a document population and present a much narrower and more targeted set of documents for review. With current technology providing the methods to reduce the volume of documents needed to review to a manageable volume, a change is now needed in the way that we design review teams. In the past, with no way to effectively filter an entire corpus of documents, the standard strategy was to place the largest number of reviewers available in a room to review documents in the fastest time frame possible. A newer strategy places almost all the attention on using computers (predictive coding) to perform the work of culling data sets to a manageable size. Cavo eD believes that the right answer is somewhere in between: the proper deployment of humans, combined with the best Technology Assisted Review tools, in the right order.
